Our recent journey to Edinburgh and Gleneagles was nothing short of extraordinary. The charm of Edinburgh’s historic streets set the tone, but Gleneagles was where the magic truly unfolded.
Nestled in the heart of Scotland beneath the Ochil Hills, Gleneagles is a luxurious escape that feels like a “Riviera in the Highlands.” This iconic country estate, just an hour from Edinburgh, offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure across its 850+ acres.
At Gleneagles, we immersed ourselves in the rich traditions of the Scottish countryside. We had the unique opportunity to learn about dog training, falconry, and even how ferrets assist in hunting—a fascinating insight into Scotland’s sporting heritage. Skeet shooting was exhilarating, and my husband had an incredible time playing on one of the resort’s three championship golf courses, including the famed PGA Centenary Course, host to the 2014 Ryder Cup.
Dining was a highlight, with each meal outdoing the last. The Strathearn was our favorite, where the smoked Scottish salmon was simply divine, and the ambiance was as elegant as the cuisine. The resort also offers a variety of dining options, from the Mediterranean-inspired Birnam Brasserie to Andrew Fairlie, Scotland’s only two Michelin-starred restaurant.
What sets Gleneagles apart is the sheer range of activities available. Whether you’re interested in off-roading, horse riding, or indulging in a treatment at their award-winning spa, there’s something for everyone. The estate also offers access to whisky tastings, historical tours, and a plethora of outdoor adventures that make it more than just a resort—it’s a true “Glorious Playground.”
From the breathtaking scenery to the unmatched hospitality, Gleneagles provided an experience we’ll cherish for years to come. If you’re looking for a luxurious, yet authentically Scottish retreat, Gleneagles is the place to be.
